Insurance Baton Rouge

girlWhen looking for affordable Louisiana home insurance it is important to request quotes from many insurance providers. As an independent agent, we have access to many competitive markets for your home insurance.  We shop your home and auto insurance on a regular basis in order to find the best combination of pricing and coverage. There are other issues to consider as well. If you are willing to make a small investment in your home (which not only lowers your insurance premiums but raises your property value) then you just might lower your homeowner’s insurance costs significantly. Fourrier Agency, Inc has the ability to shop many markets to find the right combination of coverage and price.

There are at least three of factors which determine the insurance premiums our clients pay:

1.    Location-A Home that is close to coast will have higher premiums.

2.    Age of home-Newer homes often have much better rates due to improvements in building codes.

3.    Home & personal property value- The higher the value of your home and contents will generate higher premiums.

There are some things you can do to reduce your premiums, including:

  • Get an inspection on your home to include, roof, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Have you upgraded your home for hurricane protection? If so, this will help keep premiums down. The State of Florida has a program called “Mitigation Verification”. You may hear it referred to as a “wind-mit” inspection. Ninety percent (90%) of all homes built in Florida between the years 1980 and 2000 are eligible for this premium savings. Making sure that your home has these features will not only provide for significant savings on your Florida homeowners insurance, it will also increase its market value!
  • Install a security alarm.
  • Review your limits on personal property. If you had an expensive item ($5,000 or above) and sold it during the year, you may want to consider reducing your coverage by that amount.
  • Don’t buy unnecessary coverage.  Call us for more information.
  • Avoid claims by taking precautions. By cutting down the dead tree in the yard, or erecting a fence around the swimming pool, you can reduce the likelihood that you’ll have a claim.
